My name is Menno Nijhof, I am 25 years old, and I am specialised in film editing as well as film directing. Filmmaking is a huge passion for me and, therefore, I decided in 2015 to move to Amsterdam to do an audio-visual study. During this course I realised where my passion for filmmaking came from. It is telling stories that I love.

Throughout the years I gained a lot of experience in filmmaking. While working many hours on the set, my main focus has always been on editing. I think that editing is the part of filmmaking that touches the core of storytelling the most. The editor can create stories in many ways from a vast amount of footage that is made. Not only is it possible to tell dozens of different stories, but also it is possible to tell a singel story in many different ways. It's just which choices you make as an editor. It definitely is the creative process of decision making and finding the perfect route to tell a story that makes me crazy about editing.

Editing has a great impact on how a story is told. Nevertheless, it is always just a part of the filmmaking progress. It is the film director who is involved from the start and stays involved until the very end. That's why I am passionate about film directing as well. Directing a group of people in such a way so that everyone is on the same page can be a tremendous challenge. Not only is film directing about producing footage and delivering a story, but also it is working with a different people with different personalities. That's what makes it so much fun for me.
